Evening Walk – Ossendorf

File:NaHD.JPG

Pink clouds drifting

On the darkening sky

Greening trees, flowers erupting

An explosion of color

Those behind the barbed wire

Confined, excluded

The dismal orange glow

Of sodium steam lamps

Turns their world

Monochrome

There is a prison in Cologne-Ossendorf, not very far from where I live.

    • Just a normal state prison. They have these orange lights outside that look a little depressing, together with the concrete walls. The strong contrast to the colorful park provided an opportunity to use it as a symbol in the poem. I think inside it is not actually that bad, but well, it is a prison.
